This September, celebrate the incredible migration of thousands of raptors at the Festival of Hawks, held at the beautiful Holiday Beach Conservation Area near Amherstburg, Ontario. Recognized as one of the premier hawk-watching destinations in North America, Holiday Beach offers an unforgettable experience for bird enthusiasts, photographers, and nature lovers alike. From Broad-winged Hawks to Bald Eagles, the skies will be alive with activity, and it is the perfect opportunity to capture stunning images of these majestic birds in flight.
DMCC will be organizing a group outing during the festival weekend on Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14, 2025. Many of us will leave early Friday morning and spend the afternoon at the site. We’ll spend time at the famous hawk tower for panoramic views of the migration, attend expert-led birding demonstrations, and explore the trails and marshlands for even more photographic opportunities. Whether you’re a seasoned wildlife photographer or just looking to practice your skills in a beautiful setting, this event is a must-see!
Bring your camera gear, binoculars, and your sense of adventure, and we can’t wait to experience this incredible natural phenomenon with you.
Details about the meetup time, parking, and recommended gear checklist will follow soon. Mark your calendars and register on Meetup if you’re interested in receiving more information and details… You won’t want to miss this amazing weekend with the club!
FYI, some DMCC members will be camping at a nearby provincial campground for a few extra days and visiting Point Pelee and Rondeau Parks.
