I have always loved photography and enjoy taking pictures of family and travels. In the summer of 2009, I decided it was time to further develop my passion so I attended a week-long photography course with my new digital camera. The instructor suggested that in order to continue my photography journey, I should consider joining a camera club, but he cautioned, “your images are your art… do not be intimidated by the judging process… use it to learn and grow.”

That fall I discovered the Don Mills Camera Club conveniently located at the Don Mills Library. I was warmly welcomed and developed friendships with the members who provided me with a safe place to learn and grow. My first goal was to improve my travel photography so I could capture the world around me. I was very nervous and was blown away by the incredible photographs the more experienced members shared. I was especially drawn to the beautiful nature images and soon discovered that my true passion would be nature photography. I volunteered to help with the GTCCC (now O3C) print competition and soon began to create prints.

There are so many people in the DMCC who have mentored and supported me in my photographic journey. I have learned many skills from presentations, competitions, workshops, outings, and especially from friendships and sharing with many enthusiastic talented photographers. I am excited to continue to learn and grow in this welcoming space. Here is a selection of my favourite images.
